About The AI Doodle

Home of The Doodle Principle: How AI Becomes Your Partner in Curiosity and Creativity

Welcome to The AI Doodle, the companion publication to my book
The Doodle Principle: How AI Becomes Your Partner in Curiosity and Creativity.

This publication is built on the core idea behind the book:

AI isn’t intelligent — it’s incomplete.
You supply the curiosity, creativity, judgment, and humanity.
AI supplies momentum.

The “doodle” is the bridge that makes this work — a modern reinterpretation of the old pen-and-paper doodle.
A doodle used to be a squiggle you made while thinking.

Today, with AI, a doodle is an intellectual spark
— a quick idea, prompt, question, scenario, or thought experiment that you feed into AI to explore what’s possible.

And yes, the name is also a nod to the quirky Goldendoodle on the cover — a reminder that AI doesn’t have to be cold, sterile, or intimidating. It can be playful, curious, human, and fun.

This publication brings those ideas to life.

What The AI Doodle Is

It is:

  • the living, evolving extension of the book

  • the practical playground where readers practice the Doodle Principle

  • the community where ideas, creativity, and clarity grow

  • the home of the FADES framework

  • part newsletter, part workshop, part curiosity lab

If the book teaches you the principles, this publication helps you apply them — one doodle at a time.

The Foundation: The Doodle Principle

The Doodle Principle has a simple mission:

Give people a clear, human, fun way to understand AI and use it to think better.

To make this practical, the book introduces FADES, a five-part model for understanding and using AI responsibly and creatively.

Those five parts will become the major sections of this site.

FADES — The Five Pillars of Your AI Journey

1. Fallacy

Why so many people misunderstand AI — and why believing AI is “smart” leads to bad expectations, frustration, and fear.
Here we unpack myths and clarify how AI actually works.

2. Anatomy

The mechanics behind what AI does, in human terms.
Not math. Not hype.
Just a clear picture of what’s happening behind the scenes so you can make sense of the tool.

3. Doodles

The center of everything.
Doodles are:

  • prompts

  • ideas

  • refinements

  • sketches

  • thought experiments

  • playful explorations

This is where creativity meets clarity.
This section will include real doodles, reader doodles, and expansions of the concept as a creative discipline.

4. Evolution

How your doodles grow — from curiosity to clarity to creativity to confidence.
This is where small experiments turn into insights, writing, creations, or solutions.

5. Scaffolding

The support structures that improve your use of AI:

  • frameworks

  • templates

  • prompt structures

  • mental models

  • thinking tools

This is the part that transforms AI from “neat trick” to “creative partner.”

Together, FADES is the structure of both the book and this publication.

Why This Substack Exists

Because after writing The Doodle Principle, I realized people needed more than a book.

They needed:

  • a place to practice

  • a place to play

  • a place to ask questions

  • a place to see real examples

  • a place to try doodles of their own

This Substack is the living version of the book — the hands-on workshop the book points you toward.

My goal is simple:

Help people use AI to become more curious, more creative, and clearer thinkers — not to replace themselves, but to expand themselves.

What You’ll Get Here

Doodles

Short, fun, surprising explorations based on real questions and ideas.
Many will connect directly to stories or chapters from the book.

Clarity Pieces

Simple explanations of how AI works, using everyday language and examples.

Scaffolding Tools

Templates, frameworks, and ready-to-use structures you can try immediately.

Evolution Stories

Before-and-after examples showing how a doodle grows into something meaningful.

Dog-themed analogies and creativity

Because creativity begins with play.

You’ll soon be able to submit your own doodles
— and I’ll turn selected ones into public lessons, examples, or creative explorations.

Who I Am

I’m Kyle Ewing — tech leader, writer, and lifelong explainer of complex things.
